Brainstorming ideas about the EMR

I find it fascinating that the health care field has been mandated to have an electronic medical record by the year 2012 (I think that is when it has to happen).  There are many reasons to have an EMR, and as a health care worker I can see the many advantages that would come from this.  A few angles that I'm researching now on the EMR are privacy, compatibility of programs, cost effectiveness and the relief that may come to the health care worker who has always struggled with reading doctors orders because they all took the class "doctor writing 101" where they learn to write so that no one can read it and therefore they believe it will be less of a chance for them to be sued if the wrong thing was done.  Just kidding, all joking aside, to be able to actually read an order and know who wrote the order either by electronic signature or an assigned number for the signature will be a relief for many and a struggle for many others....

Winter Solistice

First day of winter....wow! This could only mean that spring is just around the corner. I look forward to the newness of spring, the little bit of green and other colors poking their way through the frozen ground. Living in Michigan and missing my Harley, just the thought that winter is here, but spring is on the way has a bittersweet sound to it. How many days until there will be a day to have my knees to the breeze? How warm does it have to be to enjoy the freedom of the ride? Oh, I get sooo very excited when I think about the roar of the bike and the vibration of the engine ~ the smell of the ride ~ leather.............

Thinking

I've spent many days thinking about what the future holds for me.  I think about my family, my friends, my education and my career.  I know that God has a perfect plan for my life...but life in the desert leaves you dehydrated and thirsty.  My heart longs to be thirsty for the living water, but I seem to be choosing other sources to quench that ever present thirst. Winter is so dry.  You would think with snow as deep as six inches or more that water would be abundant.  Not so!  You must first heat the snow so that it melts from the near frozen state to a liquid state.  Much the same way snow is heated to make water, our lives are heated to purify, heal and build.  Should I run or go slowly.  In the desert, without water, running could be dangerous.  But the more slowly that I travel the deeper the burn.  A good friend warned me just a few days ago to "Go Slow....just slow down".  She has been watching me for twenty years, I think she has some wisdom that I should take to heart.  But this desert is so, so very HOT!
