Composition Final Thoughts

Although at the beginning of this term I did not believe that I could write an effective research paper, I now know that I CAN!  What an accomplishment.  I have learned so many things throughout this course that I can take with me and add to my tool box.  As I continue to become a writer, I have seen an improvement in my research habits and my writing habits.  I truly look forward to writing more and more papers. I am excited about the future......writing!

Learning.............

As I have made my way through composition II, I have determined that I love to write.  The possibilities are endless as to where you can go in writing, what you can express and the styles that you use.  To have learned how to properly revise, edit, and produce an excellent paper is priceless.  I plan to continue to write and rewrite using the tools that Kaplan has provided me with.  I have so much inside that is waiting to burst forth into words that can move others to excellence and beyond.

To continue or not to continue..........

I think I may...continue to blog after this composition class has ended.  It is nice to come here and share thoughts and feelings and to get my creative juices flowing.  I also can work through problems that I am currently having.  I find myself enjoying the act of "becoming" a writer.  I had never considered myself talented in this area in the past, but by blogging, I have discovered that I truly have a talent inside that has been patiently waiting to be discovered.  Yes, I think I will continue.......to blog.

Review............

Peer review is a great way to get great ideas!  When you ask your peers to give constructive feedback you can gleen so much information.  They may have a different look on things than you do and because you are the one writing the paper you know what you think it says.  While they are the ones actually reading the paper they know what is actually written.  You as an author may read into your writings certain moods or ideas that are not naturally expressed the way that you intended.  By having your peers review your work, you get the idea of how the audience hears or sees your work.  I love feedback, good, bad or indifferent....from all area!  Come on baby, hit me with your best shot!

January 2011....so diffent than 2010

If someone would have told me last January what life would be like this January I would have never believed them.  As one goes through life, there are many times that we come to forks or crossroads where we have to make decisions on which direction to take.  This is where I find myself.  My decisions will affect many people.  My family, friends and myself.  Last January, we placed my fathers ashes in the ground just a day after my brothers 46th birthday.  That was a turning point in my life.  I have since been in a constant state of change the redirection, that at times I feel that I have just been on the most intense roller coaster ever built.  I am looking forward to the future chapters in my life and the lessons to be learned.

Why steal from me??

When I think about plagiarism it makes me feel taken advantage of.  To have worked so hard to have my thoughts, words and ideas be birthed from within and taken to paper just to have someone else claim that it is theirs is discouraging...almost like a personal attack.  Now, if someone felt that what I had to say was good and they gave me the credit, I would be elated.  Just to have one person understand what I was trying to communicate and want to actually share it would build up my confidence.  I now have a new outlook on using others knowledge and giving them the credit they are due.

Brainstorming ideas about the EMR

I find it fascinating that the health care field has been mandated to have an electronic medical record by the year 2012 (I think that is when it has to happen).  There are many reasons to have an EMR, and as a health care worker I can see the many advantages that would come from this.  A few angles that I'm researching now on the EMR are privacy, compatibility of programs, cost effectiveness and the relief that may come to the health care worker who has always struggled with reading doctors orders because they all took the class "doctor writing 101" where they learn to write so that no one can read it and therefore they believe it will be less of a chance for them to be sued if the wrong thing was done.  Just kidding, all joking aside, to be able to actually read an order and know who wrote the order either by electronic signature or an assigned number for the signature will be a relief for many and a struggle for many others....
